BBC World Service interviewed an Iranian guy this morning and asked if he was happy Saddam was dead, since he launched war on Iran in the 80s. He said yes, but it was the Americans who persuaded Saddam to attack Iran and armed him with chemical weapons, so the real criminals have never faced trial.

He did. The sad thing is, his people never saw him face a genuine legal process. His execution was a tool used by the Americans, who have killed EVEN more Iraqis than Saddam did.

Thank you. I'm sure the Americans have not killed more Iraqis than Saddam....but the fact remains that this was a kangaroo court with no justice and no legal norms. We have reduced ourselves to a state similar to his.
