I disagree about the keeper as in the modern game he must be able to bat. I wouldn't completely dismiss Read yet as he hasn't been given an extended run in the side to prove it one way or the other. That said James Foster is still young and can bat so that's another option along with the lad at Worcester who my son tells me is going to be England's next great wicketkeeper batsmen. We shall see.

Harmison annoys the hell out of me and needs to change his attitude big time if he wants to stay in Test cricket. He has all the physical attributes to be a great fast bowler but lacks the main thing required. The stuff that's between his ears. He may care but gives a good impression of somebody that doesn't and needs to be nastier.

Mahmood is shite and whereas Botham says you can't teach pace but 90 mph half volleys on good Test pitches and against good Test batsmen equals cannon fodder.

Isn't Tresco's problem what happens in his family life when he goes on tour?

Harmy's response to Nasser Hussain's question of what he was going to do to prepare for the summer- 'I don't know, Nasser'- was approaching unforgivable.

Re: keeper- watch out in the next few years for a young lad called Steven Davies. I feel he will rid us of the Jones/Read issue once and for all.

That's what I said in one of my previous posts. My youngest son plays club cricket at U16 level in Taunton and is a wicketkeeper/batsmen and he is raving about Davies.

One my sons coaches (and is an ECB coach)) has also coached Davies and he says that Davies has got the lot including a steely attitude and great work ethic.

Might be a year or two away from the Test arena though.

I agree. Paul Nixon until then.

Mind you, we need so much magic, maybe we should play David Nixon?

Will they win a single game?

Not sure if they never have on tour to Aus but the triangular series is all that can save that now i think.
