I have to agree with you. The big question mark is how much of a change the next leader (presumably Brown) will make. I'm guessing not much, but he might surprise us.

Dibble,
The politics are only the politician's justification for being in power and on the gravy train. In communist Russia the Party had their own Gum shops where they could obtain luxury goods and if a car was seen on the roads it could only be a Party member. All politicians have one thing in common they are in power and have the perks that go with deciding one's own standard of living.
Can anyone name a political party in power where the leaders have the same standard of living as the people?
Mike Freeman.

Re: Champagne Socialists
Well put Mucho,
The point of having wars for the powerful is that they earn lots of money from selling bombs, bullets, arms, aircraft and missiles for example. Blair is known to be a super salesman for BAE while Kashoggi the arms dealer lives in Hampstead and drinks champagne with the rest of his ilk.
This government happens to be the second biggest arms dealer in the world!
These are the morally superior, chattering classes of the urban elite who discuss how to protect women by making censorship of submissive images of women more Draconian than they already are while hundreds of thousand are killed by their weapons of mass destruction every year in British theatres of war.
