Re: Breakfast
Ah, Liz old mate. That takes me back to the sense of excitement we'd get each day wondering what the 56er was going to have for lunch. Sadly, he long ago stopped keeping us informed on such matters.

Re: Breakfast
I hope I don't annoy anyone, but on US PBS a few weeks back, a young American woman went into a diner in the UK & ordered 'the full monte' (sp??) & it was described in detail. The tone of the thing was amazement & that it was a sure route to cardiovascular disease etc.. Can't recall the context of the show but think it was one of those 'travel/culinary'-type things.
Had a penpal from Middlesbrough come visit back in the '90s & introduced him to a local restaurant for breakfast & he liked the grub, except grits; said 'A lot of nothing aren't they.?' I told him they were cheap & filling , & there is a saying in the South, 'Grits ain't groceries'.
Myself I have never been able to stomach food in the morning; have to be up at least 2 hours just to eat a piece of toast. But I like breakfast food: scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausage, pancakes, waffles. My mother used to make the best Eggs Benedict...drool.
