Orange broadband

Post by Johnnyboy 22 »

A few days ago i started having problems with my Broadband. I am with Orange. Every 30 minutes or so i would just lose the connection, and get an error message saying 680 no dialing tone. Of course i contacted orange to sort this out, they went through all the usual bullshit, what modem you using, you downloaded any new software etc. Eventually they said they would contact Bt Wholesale to do a test on the line. I contacted them again today to see what results they had, none at the moment try again tomorrow. I pointed out that i had already contacted Bt and they said there was no fault on the line, back to Orange Tech Support and they said that is not true, there is a fault on the line and they are awaiting results. I will wait until tomorrow and see what they say, if no results are there, i will cancel my contract. Just seeing if anyone else had these problems.

I get this problem ocassionally with orange broadband. I get "unable to establish a connection".

According to orange there's never a problem with the line or there service and they try to divert me to tech support but I refuse as I am not paying 50p per min for support even though they say the call won't last anymore than 20 mins. That's a bargain as the call could cost a tenner then.

Low and behold I change nothing on my computer. Don't touch the settings or modem and a few hours later hey presto it all returns. Magic hey and they still say there's no problem at there end.

Feel yourself lucky I have still got 3 months left of my contract so can't cancel until then.

My friend had the same problem and one day it would connect at all. A whole week it took them too sort it out and that was only when she threaten too contact the trading standards. When her contract is up she's switching too another ISP. Orange in a work Sucks!

Because orange is wannado and they really should be called wanna-get-a-better-network-arcitecture but they figured the VPs and execs would be unable to remember that, so they shortended to "wannado' because thats all you the schmuck customer can, wannado, all you wanna do is get a connection :P

Cant say I have. I've been with Freeserve, Wanadoo and now Orange, and never had any major problems. Their help line isnt that good when I have had to call them, and they did forget not to charge me for my first month on free broadband, but that aside nothing serious. Perhaps I'm just luck.

Why not try 'talk talk' from Carphone Warehouse, I've been with them for a couple of weeks now, it took a bit of buggering about getting connected; but at the moment everything's o.k.
It's cheaper than B.T. but you have to put up with the pop-ups to use the e-mail, the downside is you have to use adaware all the bleeding time to get rid of the junk.

Go for waitrose.\ the profit goes to 'charidy' and the tech/help line is free 24/7 and they ALWAYS answer it, after you have registered your interest, ask them for extra usage, 20 /40gig download, however I am informed by those that know that ZEN are also extremely good.

I downloaded not far off 20gb in the last 42 hours alone. Mainly transfering DV and Flash Card images. I'd be screwed on 90% of ISPs out there!

They give you 24mb and 40mb and now 100mb connections to the internet and then tell you, you can only use X amount, its crazy!

I'm told the nerds choice is Pipex Max at the moment, I have one friend who runs and FTP and IRC server off his, and he says his monthly bandwidth can hit 80+gb and they aint been arsed.
