Do you want a picture ?

If so first put the picture in the My Pictures folder in My Documents. As a JPG (or GIF, but JPG is better)

Then Right click on desktop then choose Properties then Desktop tab

Press the Browse button and go to My Pictures and select the picture you want.

Click on it and press Open.

You can have the picture Centred, Tiled or Stretched.

When done press OK.

ive tried that but browse button is unclickable

i've done all the usual stuff but when i try to select a wallpaper the preview screen is just blank and i
cannot scroll through the wallpapers. My Desktop is just plain blue. If i
right click a pic and click set as background that wont work either.

Does
anyone know how to fix this please???????

Perhaps you haven't been signed in with the required level of authority.... Admin.
Admin may be the only level that you can do those sort of computer changes.

Quote .- Where you may be logged in " The Limited account" is the most reliable account type because it does not allow users to download or install programs"

I am just guessing (got that from the help and support part of my compaq).

Perhaps you need to wave some chocolate hobnobs around to coax Jacques back out again for the correct advice.

I think PC is on the right track, you may not have the user permission to change the wallpaper and have access to the current one.

There is a registry hack to get round this - but it's better to not go down this route.

Do you have admin rights?

Try this:

Save the pic you want as a background as a bitmap ".bmp"

Put this in C:/windows as all users have acces to this folder whatever user group they are.

Then set this ".bmp" as your background.

Click on start- help and support, system restore, then choose a bold date, restore it to that point then when it re-boots choose your background.
