Hmmmm....there is a free version at downloads.com....these companies try to sell you the 'pro' upgrades, like Zonealarm, but you can get the free ones if you look.

Try the free version of AVG and see if you like it ?.
you can always upgrade later on !.
i used the free version of AVG myself for a while .

i've got norton and it has expired bloody thing keeps popping up saying i need to re-new it. really pissing me off now.

I have a PC mag somewhere w/ some info re getting rid of Norton detritus.I will try to find time to search it out...

All have their limitations

Your best bet is to use a combination of firewall,anti-malware and anti-virus
