John Mason Retires!

Post by John Mason »

Due to increased work loads in other fields and a general lack of interest by myself, I have decided to retire from performing in films.
I had testicular cancer last year and although I have made a complete recovery, with only a small lack of sensation as the only side effect, I felt that my recent performances were not up to standard and have decided to quit while I was still ahead.
I will continue to shoot stills, so the business hasn't seen the last of me just yet, but again, due to a lot of behind-the-scenes back biting and what I consider to be general misogynistic film making, I will be taking more of a back seat from the mainstream, and concentrating on shooting new girls for my regular clients and website.

All the best

Will be sad to see you go from the mainstream and performing, your performances in the one eyed jack stuff were excellent and your "machine gun" action will be truely missed!

I must admit that I didn't know about your illness last year, but it's good to hear you have made a complete recovery.

all the best!

full respect, john, for making your experience public - men have something of a learning curve to ascend, when it comes to checking for/dealing with testicular cancer.

compare the average blokes attitude to any mention of 'the big c' down under, to the openness with which women now tackle breast cancer. honesty and awareness is especially relevant with regard to this form of the disease, as the chances of making a full recovery are so good, when the symptoms are detected early enough!

lots of important information in a few short paragraphs here.

Good luck John,

I saw the light many moons ago, early 1990's. Best wishes.
