No sticking with Ray Leonard myself.
He beat Hagler after a 5 year lay off with a detached retina and was almost certainly passed his best by the then as well. Leonard was also a natural Welterweight and had to give weight, strength and power away to Hagler (2 weight divisions above) and still beat him fair and square.
Leonard was the best and had it all.

Best fight ever?
Randolph Turpin vs Ray Robinson (1st Time) 1951, it's on youTube somewhere - worth watching, it's not often Ray Robinson was dominated from start to finish.

Re: best fight ever...BAR NONE.........
It was 3 rounds of carnage but the thriller in Manilla and the rumble in the jungle were the same and went on for longer.
The 1st Leonard v Duran fight was one of the best fights of all time and in the last 10 years the 1st Morales v Barerra fight was 12 rounds of toe to toe action and pure Mexican brutallity. An absolute classic.

If you are a fan of Duran check out his fight with Iran Barkley - Duran was 37 years old and 2 stone above his best fighting weight and he beat a hard as nails champ in the form of his life. Best Fight ever - Aaron Pryor v Alexis Arguello (first fight).
Re: best fight ever...BAR NONE.........
If you take the almost fatal result out of the equation, then you'd be hard pressed to beat Nigel Benn v Gerald McClelland for pure ferocity and sheer guts.
Good that British boxing, and Nigel Benn in particular are hosting a benefit night for the 'G-man' this week

I was at Benn vs McClellan and let me tell you that is was really warm in the arena - really warm! And what with lack of medics and the heat it is no wonder the outcome was bad. It was an amazing fight after the G-Man had said he was gonna destroy Nigel. I also won money on the fight as I had Nigel (who was the champion) to win at 4-1. Crazy odds but thats what the so called people in the know thought.
Nigel was a wonderful fighter and I saw him live over 15 times. Was there at Benn vs Eubank 2 at Old Trafford when Nigel won and then was robbed - a draw!
Same happened to Lennox with Holyfield and I was there too in Madison Sq Gdns.
