As someone once said to me "if it's on a disc it will be copied, if it's on the internet it will be copied".

You have to ask why Piracy exists. If it's cheap enough and widely available why buy a pirate copy when you can have an original? It costs me less to import a mainstream movie from the US than to pop down to my local Woolworths. That is part of why we have piracy.

Yip its dead, Warner now go direct to download, you could download Superman Returns before you could buy it on DVD. Far as I am concered the sooner its burried the better. Hated it from the start its a pirates best mate.
IPTV will take over, when you want it, wherever you are and whatever device you choose. It will cost less than 10p to deliver a blockbuster movie to your TV screen over IPTV ok they need to make a profit but there is plenty room for that before it gets near a DVD rental. Even the BBFC are looking towards the future, as so they should be,

Benny,
I have no objection to the customer running off a copy for himself but what I am talking about is not the individual but huge piracy operations.

And also dishonesty among distributors and shops who never re-order but are still selling one's titles years later.

I don't sell DVDs to the trade any longer!
