Should we be helping poverty in Afrcia?

Self Righteous Mr Geldof is again telling us to feed Africa. Why bother? The whole continent, bar maybe 4 countries is rife with corruption, mindless slaughter of innocent people in genocidal tribal disputes and AIDS as they won't use contraception. A mate has just come back from a holiday in South Afrcia and was amazed, when talking to his black caddie about life in that country that the men won't use contraception as it is another way of white men controlling blacks. When he mentioned AIDS and STDs the guy said they were also white mans inventions to control........he was genuinely shocked at the ignorance and lack of social responsibility.

Since the fall of the Empire this continent has slipped further into the mire, soon as the British pulled out the old tribal feuds started again.

Personally we should sort out Britain first and leave Afrcia to its own devices.

I am, I have choosen to help Malawi, can't fix the whole place. Anyone wants to help me out ask. Need all sorts of skills like PC builders, repairs. Anything IT. Any teachers wanna help out give me a shout. I am putting servers in Livingstone and Zomba. This is all above board.
As for SA. I can tell you there is a new channel getting set up on SKY to promote Heath and Education as well as all the other issues and showing SA in a better light. Beamed from London over the SKY platform. We are expecting to carry it to another 80+ countries.

Its not a joke, the kid's in some parts of Africa think we eat black babies. My mother was there last year, they treated her like the Queen was in town,

the whole place should be bull dozed so we can start again. If it was not for its huge natural resrouces the world would have forgotten about Africa along long time ago!! 2000 thousand years sat around waiting for us to go build them a well and then having a civil war over it for thirty years!! Put a fence around the place to stop any more of them coming over here spreading dieseas and there lose views on the value of human life!!

Start spending the millions we have sent over there to them corrupt murdering fuckers on this country (which btw would be in a much better state if so many of the murdering black fuckers mentioned above had been fenced in,in the first place)

Sorry not going to be a popular post I know,but I dont care to be honest. Africa is full of the lowest forms of life!! No one can help them because like the arabs they are little more than savages dragged into the modern world. And why? Just because of the land they are standing on!!

The fact that the West doesn't want them to develop and the IMF and World Bank haven't helped either with the eroumous intrest rates for loans which cannot be paid back and thus the country stays in poverty.

Should we help them? Probably.

Should we apply pressure to the UN, IMF, World Bank and World Leaders? Certainly.

You could say the same about India 20 years ago, exactly the same. Now its just about to be one of the most connected countries in the world,

What you don't understand is if we give them some infrastructure, which will allow them education and heath advise. If we copy India they might stay there because they can trade outside africa, if one of them turned up on my door teling me he was a web-designer or a photo shop designer or a software developer....I would employ him or her.

Never take the opinion of one or fe to be the opinion of a whole race. Justout of sheer humanity we should help people that should be helped.

Sure help those who help themelves but also educate those who need to be educated.

I would dread to think if I was a desperate starving african that the rest of the world put me in the same group as those who made a dumb and uneducated comment.

Beeston boy you contradict yourself by having an opinion then going onto say you dont care but if you didnt care you wouldnt offer an opinion.

Also: I wonder if Africa was full of white people would the opinions on here have been the same: or if the people who expressed those opinions were african would they share the same sentiment?

Its clearly obvious (opinions on this forum aside) that the rest of the world would prefer to see the africans wipe themselves out with disease, war and ignorance so that they can barge in and claim Africa for themselves which kind of lends credence to the theory about aids and the old green monkey. I really wonder how much credibilty that really has?

The reason i ask this is that I understand why people here dont really care but to say "bull doze the place and start afresh" Well we could say that about anywhere couldnt we? Why not just wipe the planet out and start again too?

Yes there is corruption and savages and what not in Africa...But lets not forget the rest of the world is also just as corrupt with it own savages where we can take for granted that we can stroll down to the local chippy without having to be hungry and fork out a pound to pay for it without so much as a thought for others who are members of the human race starving to death who dont have this luxury.

Keith I couldnt resist responding to your post as I think it was eloquently put if not a tad cynical.

I couldnt dispute Bob Geldof doing this to feed his ego but then again i have never had any problem with a man with a huge ego if he was going some good to help those who are deprived of such basic things as food and clean water. Who cares if he is an average musician?! If his vocation is a humane one I think this is to be respected.
