just heard he's died of cancer. never a great actor but enjoyed The New Avengers, admittedly for the sight of Joanna Lumley. RIP

The coffee ad I remember where he demonstrated a five knuckle shuffle and instead of a handful of spaff, coffee appeared

My dad played golf with him once in a celeb-am tournement. He was a really good laugh.

Icons always seem to pass away in groups of 3.
John Inman, now Gareth Hunt...............bet there's a few names from back then a bit worried this week.

Didnt like the new avengers although i rec a few in the 80s.

I remember The New Avengers and while it is sad about the deaths of John Inman and Gareth Hunt, I would hardly describe them as icons as Ace did.

None of them did anything outside of the one show that they were famous for. As soon as their shows were cancelled (for whatever reason) their careers died a death.

OK, maybe not icons, but recognisable faces from TV shows that are synonomous from this era

Seem to recall in the mid 80s he was in a fairly good comedy had a son i think fancied the neighbour it was on BBC1Ace wrote:

Ah Gareth Hunt. Yes I remember him in my youth. Therefore he must be famous. Cos I knew of him in The Avengers. RIP G
