Maybe it's good natured banter, but it looks like piss-taking.

I'm referring to the 'The day I.....' threads and a few other sarcastic comments about said victim.

Did you watch chimpanzee week on the BBC a few months back? It demonstrated how close human and chimp behaviour is. With relevance to this thread - once a group of chimps has identified an individual as a victim, they continue to gang up and attack him as a matter of habit. It takes a brave chimp to defend the victim against the Dibbles.
