If the government want to pay me back for the last 15 years of Student Games payments I've made, and write off the next 10 years, then i'll listen to an arguement for national funding. Until then, its a London thing, they can sort it out themselves.
We have need of you again, great king.

The only winners will be the large construction firms.....easy money......government ministers now and in the future......Lords Blair & Brown, as they both will be by then.......i can picture the scene.... Blair back from the states where he now lives to join in the "success"...lord brown returns from scotland where he invested more money in his years in power than any thing else ( excluding africa)

I'm glad we won the Olympics. Doesn't anyone in this country know how to do anything but moan anymore?

Trident's going to cost ?20bn (and the rest - ?100bn lifetime estimate including maintenance). Moan about that.

The Olympics and the assets created will generate an income from 2012 onwards, so the net cost will eventually be much lower. And we'll have created some world-class sporting venues and regenerated some of the poorest parts of the country.

Rejoice, rejoice! !happy!

I can only say - I hope so. Not having lived through a British Olympics before, I honestly don't know. But it's worth a punt, even at ?9bn.

I DO know Barcelona pretty well, and their Olympics completely revitalised the city. It was pretty much a dump pre-92, and now one of Europe's greatest cities. If London can benefit as much, it'll be worth it.
