Useless questions...

Post by Sam Slater »

Who's right or left handed/footed?

Which ear is your dominant ear? (tip: which ear do you use most when answering a phone, or which side of your face do you tilt forward to someone you can't quite hear?)

Which eye is your dominant eye? (tip: hold out your hand at arms length and use your finger and thumb to make a circle. Read this text through the circle and then close one eye. If you're still focused on the exact word you were before closing your eye then the one still open is the dominant eye. If the focus changes to a different word upon closing one eye the you closed your dominant eye.)

The useless info bit:

I'm right handed.

I'm right footed.

I'm left eared.

I'm left eyed.

Note to terry: If you try this and the room goes dark, don't panic. You closed one eye, but forgot you only had one eye. Reopen eye for sight retrieval. The last test doesn't concern you.

Left eyed people apparently read faster in languages that go 'left-right'. I get frustrated when showing my girlfriend an article on a website and I'm waiting aaaagggggeeeesss for her to read it. Maybe she's right eyed and I should stop getting her in a headlock.

Sam,
Left handed people, including many visual artists, have the hemispheres of the brain on the opposite sides to most people. The left hand and eye connect to the visual, spatial hemisphere as opposed to the logical in most people and therefore are biologically different.
