Car trouble

Post by Ace »

Before I take my car in to have the piss taken out of me, I hope some mechanics out there might save me some trouble so I can tell the mechanic what needs sorting.
My car (Rover 25) feels like its losing power when starting off after being idle overnight, seems like its in 3rd Gear then 4th Gear instead of 1st and 2nd. When I get it up to 4th, I really let the fucker rev up and open the clutch, and it seems OK, but it feels like its running on 3 spark plugs.
Any idea or can the mechanic suck through his lying teeth and pull my pants down for unnecessary work, like they do.

Check all spark plugs are firing and clean them and reset the gap.

Check air filter

Check fuel is getting through to all cylinders

But it does sound as if plugs are not all firing to start with until it warms up and burns of excess crap.

If it's electronic then that can be an issue and a problem.... get one of those Home tune guys to pop round and have a look, should only cost about ?40.
