Anyone care to Google the name of the actor who played the character of the Wizard.....?

Frank Morgan was the name of the replacement DCI from Hyde, who tried to get Gene done for murder in the last episode.

I've read a theory suggesting that Ray, Annie and the thick one whose name I can't remember, represent the tin man, lion and scarecrow. All a bit Dark Side of the Moon, I think...

The Radio Times has a few clues as well, from the creator. It left me more baffled than before...

For example:

Hyde specifically means something. Sam made up a story that he was transferred from there- but now Morgan has appeared and knows the truth. Morgan knows a lot of truth...

The phone number '2612' means something as well- not a number chosen at random.

There was a piece where he wakes up and The Sweeney was on in the background. The car in the 'Sweeney episode' looked familiar, didn't it......

26/12 is Boxing Day, but what that has to do with anything is anyone's guess.

It'll probably all be bollox anyway.

One theory- honest, and not mine- is that Sam is a timetraveller from the year 2612- and that he comes from a human colony on Mars.

Two points in its favour-mind you- 'Tyler' was Billie Piper's character's surname in Doctor Who; and if correct, it would be following 'The Prisoner' in telling you the solution in every episode- without anyone realising what they were hearing.

Nah, I doubt it`ll be time travelling, the Tyler connection is weak as Life on Mars had been in the works for years, before Doctor who was brought back.
Looking forward to seeing John Simm playing The Master in Doctor Who though

WHATEVER the solution is, the whole thing has been bloody brilliant.
I'm so glad they are ending it all after two series so it will go down as a piece of legendary British telly and not linger on and on drifting down in the ratings and nearer the graveyard slot hour of midnight on BBC2/3/4.
This is where 'Lost' has failed. Several people I work with loved 'Lost' at the start but over recent months have become fed up with it and couldn't care less what happens to the characters. When that happens, whatever programme it is, it is doomed to fail.
For my own thoughts on the 'LoM' solution, my guess is the coppers that have been really close to Sam throughout the two series will turn out to be the doctors and nurses around his bedside. There's plenty of rumours about Frank Morgan and his connection with 'The Wizard of Oz' and I reckon there's mileage in that theory too.
Either way, I'll be hooked to the final episode on Tuesday night.
Definitely one of the best pieces of ORIGINAL British TV drama in decades.
Writing is EVERYTHING and 'LoM' has had a screenplay to rival the best works of Messrs McGovern, Bleasdale and Russell. !thumbsup!
