Damn, damn, damn, I really shouldn't have had that late night "Jazz cigarette"... before I typed that last thread in, at least it was Carac that corrected me; with humour. I don't mind that at all.

Radio 2 are doing a special tribute to Sgt Pepper.

You can see recordings of the Pepper songs by Travis, Sterophonics here:



Or if you have digital TV you can press the "Red button" and one of the options is Beatles songs (or "Pepper songs" cant remember)

You can then watch 7 of the artists do the "covers"

Have to say they stick very closely to the originals.

Can anyone name the band/album that blew certain Beatles away & was the impetus for 'Sgt. Pepper'?? No googling!!


In the US at the time, the release of this album by the Beatles was much anticipated, & was a media event at the time, not simply a rock music thing. It was very big.

There was a lot of talk surrounding Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys, which would be my guess.
