I have bought a HotRod R18 DVD of Dreamquest from a sex shop. The colours are strong and vibrant but the pictures are very grainy.
Do i just have a duff copy or are all HotRod copies of Dreamquest poor picture quality ? Also all the extras are missing. Maybe HotRod DVDs in general are poor picture quality.
Can someone suggest where i can get a pukka copy of Dreamquest please ?

The only way you can be sure of getting a puka DVD copy of Dream Quest is to order it from the American distributors. I haven?t seen the Hot Rod DVD, however, it has struck me that a lot of R18 DVD's are inexcusably crap.
You see, the British distributors buy the rights to a movie and then have to have a special BBFC friendly edit of that movie. Then if they want to offer it on DVD they have to have to author it before they have it pressed. i.e. add chapters, menus, graphics, links and all sorts of artistic and technical stuff that the unsophisticated tossers haven?t got the slightest clue about, or indeed care about. Also, the disc needs to be authored using software that can generate high quality mpeg files by someone who knows how to use it. Since this process requires a modicum of ability and expertise - which costs real dough - the Brit distributors are quite happy to get it done on the cheap - maybe by their electrician, Darren, who?s just bough a computer from Dixon?s and swears that he can "do all that, easy peasy, no problemo!"
Brit distributors and some Brit producers are not to concerned about this because they know that on the whole British punters will be satisfied with any old cheap, shoddy, shit. Where as your Americans and Europeans have much higher standards and would be offended at being offered such crap and tell the distributors in no uncertain terms where to stick it! I'll wager that the "extras" are not "missing" penbat2003 - the fuckers never put them on there in the first place, so displaying their utter contempt for British consumers. But, if you don't stand for it they may get their act together.
If you want to see what a proper DVD should be like buy a genuine 'Private' DVD from Private (not one of Sullivan's piss taking licensed copies) And then when you watch a commercial Brit DVD - licensed import or home-grown - and it doesn?t match those standards tell the distributors, producers and proclaim to the forum how laughably crap it is! To author and produce a DVD to the quality of say a Private DVD doesn?t take the resources of a huge studio, It can all be done on a well specified computer desk top. It just takes a little time, commitment and ability, to produce a quality product that can stand comparison with the best on offer.

Re: Poor quality HotRod R18 DVD (Dreamquest)
I bought Dreamquest in the states, and the picture is very grainy, looking as if it was put together from two different sources, about halfway through the quality changes completley, then towards the end it goes grainy again, this was an original'Wicked' DVD, with loads of features, I was most dissapointed, If I find a better print anywhere I'll let you know!
