Unfortunately there have been a few cases in recent history of more than just 'a little smoking'!!

That's part of my point. I was surprised how unfit she looks. You wouldn't expect a male soldier in active service to be an overweight smoker. What was this girl doing on front-line duty?

Actually.........
There will be a smoking ban on Army bases from July or whenever it is when the No Smoking Ban becomes law.
All military bases are classed as 'Government Buildings' and you know what that means.
Some old muckers of mine have been served notice that this means no smoking in their accomodation blocks and the NAAFI bar.
As for faye Turney, I bet her old man was keeping his fingers crossed !wink!

Re: Faye Turney
she's a sailor who drives boats not a soldier who has to carry equipment and march long distances.

That question you'll have to put to the feminist who are controlling this entire debate.
It's fair to summise that a male front line soldier or sailor would not look that obviously unfit. Was Turney permitted to be unfit for front line duties because she's a woman?

Was she "match fit" prior to her captivity?

I agree that women who wish to serve on front line duties should be equally as fit as the men.
