Help with .rar files.

I've downloaded a number of .avi files which were split using Rar.
All but two unpacked and joined but two resulted in what seem to be empty folders. Empty when I open them but RtClick>Properties says they contain the joined avi. files.
I've downloaded them again with the same result.
Do I assume one or more of the .rar files was corrupt?

I am very ignorant on this but have encountered the same or similar problem. Some of these stored/transferred files will not open unless you join them w/ 'rjsplit' or some such.
