As I recall, until the replacement of lead shot as weights for fishing with other less dangerous material, some fishermen were responsible by discarding them, for the wholesale slaughter of swans and other river birds. I'll grant you its not quite the same as deliberately shooting a bird, but an awful lot of swans died over the years ingesting the lead orally rather than violently.

Anyone who thinks it's a great idea to purchase a deadly weapon and demonstrate its use by executing a pregnant protected animal in front of its mate is a sick, antisocial individual and deserves at the very least to know what it feels like to have his own family murdered by some revolting psycho.

I'm not saying they should actually kill his relatives. I'm saying that that's how this guy should be made to feel.

Nah, don't buy it. Which swan watched it's whole family get murdered?

Even if a swan did watch related swans massacred, I don't think they see 'family', 'relatives' and 'kinship' in the same way humans do, and would be unable to grasp the consequences, action and moronic motive of the killer. (infact wouldn't even understand the immediate danger of being shot at from a distance)

What's this talk of pregnancy anyway? Birds lay eggs..........sometimes fertilised, sometimes not. So someone actually cut open the swan and cracked open un-hatched eggs to take to a lab, to test if they were fertilised or not?

You don't get that on CSI.
