run an anti-virus programme, like spyware doctor.and clean up with crap cleaner, a very good programme.

Try running a Registry cleaner such as RegistryFix. Don't use any of the webroot spyware products - they'll make your computer run even slower!

Try Media Player Classic instead of Windows Media Player - it's a lightweight, non-resource hungry, free replacement to the Windows bag of shite. Even plays Quicktime and Real Player files too.

Run all your AV & AS scans after updating. Then go to TrendMicro HouseCall & run their scan.
Note that Spyware Doctor's free version will not remove stuff unless you get the one in GooglePack.
