Re: Blair stepping down.
He should've been shot years ago. What's been Blair's accomplishments?
1. A our poorly equipped troops being shot and blown up in Iraq for Bush's oil.
2. The undermining of the poor by allowing the whole of Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe into the country.
3. Stealth tax on top of stealth tax (did you know that fuel was only 74.9 a litre a mere 5 years ago and about 59.9 at the most 10 years ago?!).
4. The scrapping of grants for further education causing poor students to get themselves in dept up to their eyeballs to the banks.
5. The scrapping of DLA for epileptics as soon as they got into power.
6. The emergence of "home grown" terrorism from the economic migrants.
Anymore examples of shit head Blair's "legacy"?

Your preaching to the converted Mojo, I cant stand the man or his cronies, all lies and spin, not a copper to be seen on the streets anywhere, teachers cowering from thier pupils, a ton of money pumped into the NHS, only to be swallowed up by NHS managers, what about respect! what was all that about..?
Still his career will flourish in America, they love losers, look at paris hilton.

Yep, a scandal, and something history won't forgive him.

As a non-driver I don't mind that particular tax. However, consumer taxes hit the poor worst, so an increasing reliance on those taxes to fund the budget increases the gap between the rich and the poor. And they still call themselves Labour.

The private-public financing initiatives is a particularly nasty legacy. Effectively remortgaging the future of the country. In the short-term it means the ability to build more schools and hospitals, in the long term the extreme opposite - ten years down the line we will all feel the pinch, because we will no longer be able to finance the existing institutions, never mind new ones. A measure like that might have been justified within a deep economic slump, to overcome a temporary financing crisis of the public purse - but when the economy is doing well this is just calculated madness, the calculation being that it will be another government that has to sort out this mess.
And then there is the legacy of John Prescott's integrated transport policy. Not so much a New Labour legacy as the failure to build one.
I just hope Blair leaves before the end of June, because I had put money on that.

Simple maths and logic, not anything I got from a newspaper. Also something that's been backed up by political/social experts on the TV.
1. These people drive down the wages at the very bottom. The more people in the country, the less business owners feel obliged to pay. By taking in all the unskilled riff-raff from all over the world employers can pick and choose who they employ, for how much pay and treat them in any manner they please a lot more easily, as in "Like it or lump it" and "Hire and Fire". And don't say that old worn out excuse that they do the jobs that the poor won't do (all said by either the "well heeled" or the ignorant), 'cause that's just a cop-out. If employers were willing to pay a living wage and treat their staff like human beings rather than poxy slaves, then there would be plenty of English people who'd be willing to do those jobs. I say if they can't run their companies well enough so they can treat their staff with some decency, then they shouldn't be in fuckin' business! Alternatively, if they really, really need cheap labour why not have FREE labour in the form of English convicts?
2. Then there's things like the housing market. The more people in the country, the less housing there is. Do you really think these people just disappear at the end of the day?! They have to live somewhere. What about when they start having kids? Do your multiplications of people and subtractions of the housing. And that's just the start. What about things like water supply, road congestion, the NHS, public transport, electricity, polution etc. These people, once here, will add to all of this, with the people at the bottom being effected the worst, whilst the ones up the top gain all the benefits of their cheap labour.
3. Lastly, ever thought that the country as a whole will suffer in the long term? I don't just mean the ones who stay here either. What about the ones who do go back home after they've had their pound of flesh out of us? Do you think the country's ever going to see that money again? Nope, that money will leave the country for good.
