I was being sarcastic in my last statement Wazza.

The whole culture in that part of the world is 300 years (if not more) behind us; regarding the treatment of females, it's even more.

Morals are just as finicky as laws though Warren; remember that. I mean, it's immoral in the UK to eat your dead grandmother, it is it immoral for the African bushman that developed such a ritual, which got them through times of famine for 10,000 years?

Some people would say it's immoral to eat your pet dog, but elsewhere..........

It's a vile, brutal spectacle. Horrendous to think that people could do this to anybody, let alone a 17 year old girl who was also murdered by members of her own family.
Last week I read another disturbing article ( in the Metro, London's edition)which is still haunting me, about a girl who was either 17 or 18 when she was arrested in Iran for robbery and "illicit love" and is now 19 yrs old and is still imprisoned and being mistreated as she awaits execution. She drew a picture to express herself and the picture was harrowing to look at-it had a female image which was screaming, seemingly in terror.
As the reporter said in the article you've posted, it's unbelievable that these spectacles take place in the 21st century-it truly is like something from Roman times.

If my G/F looks at stuff like this it haunts her too, I know because she cant let go talking about it, and we all have to tell her to lighten up, but your tale just highlights what a brutal backward bunch of fuckwit's these tribe mentalities have, as someone posted on this thread, we should fuck off out of there and leave them to it, they are truly barbaric.

I can really understand your g/f as it's very difficult not to get emotional when someone can be seen being mutilated and murdered in such a barbaric fashion. Technology and the media doesn't allow us to forget so easily or ignore what is being done in the name of family "honour", religion,ethnic loyalties etc.

I understand what you mean. It was also said in Over There that it will take centuries for the Middle East to catch up with where we are now. Trouble is, how I look at things is the way they're going they might not even make it that far. I can see, with their penchant for mindless violence and blind aggression, it's only a matter of time before they try to nuke the West and they'll be obliterated, especially if they do it to the United States. Us less so, because even if they manage to nuke London or one of our other cities, there are too many bleeding hearts who'll "want to know why they did it and maybe we can try to understand them." !annoyed!
