Arginald, you talk as if that was fact when it's opinion. If you need to believe that then all well and good but don't expect others to slavishly defer to your view. It's not a question of 'right' and 'wrong'.

We are talking about greatest guitar players of all time. Page and Beck, Blackmore, S R Vaughan, Steve Vai etc . The Smiths and The Pistols were almost anti musicianship so my criticism is blunt but relevant.

Yes but what i'm saying is that insofar as that's right it's right for you. It's a difference in emphasis and a difference of opinion .. whilst I appreciate Page and Beck other players like Johnny Marr and Mick Jones can 'hit the spot' for me albeit in a different way but I don't feel the need to assign them a place in a heirarchy based on musicianship or anything else. If they're not your cup of tea they're not your cup of tea.

Jonesy is a LOT more than a rhythm player.
I'd rather buy Jonesy and Marrs music than Pagey and Becks.

When you look at in the sixties Hendrix set it off though there were guitarists in that era before him. It's been said that Curtiss Mayfield was an influence on him as far as playing rhythym was concerned and of course the blues was an influence. He got the wah wah pedal idea from Eric Clapton and the amp stack idea from Pete Townshend. The rest is pure Jimi. !teacher!

There was absolutely nothing dodgy about Chas Chandler. Jimi was actually managed by Chandler's erstwhile business partner Michael Jeffery and, through him, by "other people" in New York. Chandler's role was actually limited to matters of music production, not business.

Almost all of the money Jimi earned during his career, from 1966 to 1970, was physically taken, in cash, by Jeffery - despite his great fear of flying - to Nassau in the Bahamas, where it was paid into offshore accounts set up by a group of lawyers on behalf of these "other people".

At the time of his death, Jimi had less than ten pounds in the bank.

I could speak at great length about Jimi's musicianship and technique, which would explain just why so many serious guitarists look up to him, but I can see I would be wasting my time.
