The first part was slow, and had to be so, but the second part made up for it. Terrific stuff, with good performances throughout---Tennant just seems to get better and better, Freema was excellent, and Jessica Hynes (nee Stevenson) was just perfect.
A Doctor-lite episode coming up, but written by Steven Moffat so it should be a goody.

Best story of the season so far and one of the best since Dr Who came back. If the rumours about Freema leaving are true then it's a shame as this story showed how good she is. If anything the ongoing unrequited love storyline is wrong rather than her casting.

Much better, the two parter offers more chance to build a decent story. The 45 minute singles are too contrived.
If Freema leaves I won't miss her, she is a box ticking exercise in political correctness, typical leftist Russell Davies.

Just thought I would add my thoughts on
)
I have been watching a lot of the old Doctor Who's on dvd lately and when watching the newer series on BBC I cant help but notice how its just not the same. I think the episodes are good "sci-fi" stories but in comparison to Tom Baker etc. they just don't seem like Doctor Who. Just seems like a sci-fi show with some timelord elements stuck in there.
While watching the old Peter Davidson episodes I noticed some similarities to how David Tennant has been this series. The Doctor is now more "human" with all this love rubbish and vulnerability.
I did enjoy the last two parter but I'm not really enjoying the love story thing. Turning into the new adventures of superman for me.
Geeky rant over - as you were

Box-ticking or not, it's given the writers an opportunity to explore racism.

Davison was always the most vulnerable of the original series Doctors, and it's not a coincidence that, with Tom Baker, he was Tennant's Doctor when he was a kid.
You should try checking out the original Doc. Before they softened him up a bit, Hartnell's character was cowardly, aloof, and rather selfish. This "last of his race" (or not) version has proved rather exciting and interesting, as well as irritating at times. But anything, anything!, is better than Colin Baker.
