Frank Lampard

Post by colin »

is it right that he is booed even before the match against Brazil started? i personally don't think he is playing well enough to be in the side at present, or maybe he is feeling the affects of a long season and is just tired(but then so is everyone else!), but i feel uneasy at the reaction he is getting from some sections of the England supporters.

I think the paying public ARE entitled to boo a player who is not playing to his full potential, however Frank Lampard is an excellent player who just cannot play for his country right now.
I would drop him for a few games to get his appetite back.
If he'd been booed after the game or when subsituted, then thats a fair one, but not BEFORE a match, it fucks his confidence before he's even kicked a ball

Carrick or Hargreaves (when fit) should replace him.

Rooney should be put into the under 21's to get his scoring form at international level back. He hasn't scored for over 2 years (maybe even 3 years)

As long as they have given there all then no England player should be booed before, during or after any match and nobody can doubt the effort has been there with Lampard.

Agreed about Carrick or Hargreaves. Carrick's not a goal scorer or much of a tackler, but he's always available for the ball, and keeps possession.

Of course being in England you have to run round like a headless chicken, crunch into tackles at 100mph, or score 30 yard goals to become an England player so not many look at Carrick. He's a damn site better than Jenas in the middle that's for sure & a continental audience would see his real worth to the team more than England fans.

About Rooney though..........that's daft. He's not scored for a while, but he's our best player. Teams double up on Rooney, and no one in the England set-up pulls defenders around to help give him space. He then drops deep but with Owen been non existent over the past 2 years, he's had no partner or help at all. Rooney looks frustrated playing for England, he's not in bad form. If he can score hatricks in the EPL & 3 against AC Milan, he'd just be wasted in the U21's.

As for Lampard. He's not produced for 18 months either. In fact the last 18 months has seen Beckham & Lampard playing shite with Rooney, Cole & Owen injured 90% of that last 18 months. Coincidence?

Against Estonia either Lampard or Carrick should start. They're going to defend so I wouldn't mind either. Carrick creates & Lamps scores. If Lamps isn't performing again, bring Carrick on asap.

The boos are harsh, but Crouch & Beckham have been booed before & got over it. Lampard should do the same.
