Take a sugar cube (1cmx1cmx1cm). It weighs 1 ounce. Now double the size of the cube (2cmx2cmx2cm). That's 8 sugar cubes to double it's size. The new cube weighs 8 ounces, not 2 ounces.

A flea that's 100 times larger than the original flea, weighs 1 million times more. See below:

By your calculations, Elephants would be able to jump. Shire horses could jump higher than show ponies, etc etc........

A flea that was 100 times larger, and only weighed 100 times more, would be 99.9% of empty space.

This is correct. Just last night I was watching a PBS show about alien life, & they had on a British biologist complaining about movies, & one thing he pointed out was, in the film 'Starship Troopers', showing the giant insects, their legs would not be able to support them at all. Legs would grow basically linearally (arithmetically) but body mass would be exponential. All this stuff about how much weight a six foot ant could tote is just hokum.

Lol, yeah it's weird innit? Ah well, I suppose they could get away with it by saying the planet these ants lived on had a lesser gravitational pull than Earth, thus they evolved differently, and didn't have the same environmental pressures.
