MP'S

Post by ATS »

See a Tory MP has jumped ship and gone over to Labour
Now is it just me or is this just plain wrong?

I don't mind which party you vote for as that is your democratic
right but surely an MP must stand for the people that elected him?

To my mind if he wants to leave a party and go over to the other side
he should do the decent thing and resign his seat. Then he can stand
at a by-election for his new party - the voters can then decide if
they still want him or not

The funny thing about this is that he represents Grantham so
its one in the eye for Maggie Thatcher

I suggest you take a trawl through the history books to the first two decades of the last century and see how often W. S. Churchill changed party---usually with a change of government (funny that).

Did you see the interview on Newsnight? Paxman describing an on-screen spat between the defdecting Tory and frontbencher Alan Duncan as a "cat fight."

I agree he should lose his seat.

I'm not quite sure what the fuss is about with Brown approaching Paddy Ashdown -and others- for particular jobs. I see it as intelligent getting the best people for the best positions, rather than somebody not so good, but from the same party.

Point taken Sam it does work in some countries where
no party as an overall majority. They do seem happier to
do deals with each other unlike here

It's the way it should be. I'd rather have an excellent, intelligent constructive critic at my disposal, than a mediocre, nodding 'yes man'.

WRONG

You vote for a candidate standing for a Political Party unless they are an Independent.

The only time you vote for a person is IF more than one candidate is standing for the same party.
