Not really aware of his music although I did see him onstage with Hawkwind once many moons ago.

I'm a big fan of the Jerry Cornelius books but some of his Sword and Sorcery stuff seems a little turgid to me these days. Always been astonished at the quantity he writes most of which is good, but not as impressed by some of his non fiction which contains some points of view which I would argue with were we to meet in a pub.

His London series is great.

Well where do think I got my forum name from? lol

He's been my favourite author since I first read him 30 years ago. I wrote to him when I was about 18, about how much I liked his stuff, especially the Jerry Cornelius books and got this great letter back with loads of photo-copied cuttings and articles etc.

Am totally obsessed with the Jerry Cornelius books, have read each one at least 20 times....in fact i've often thought they've spoilt me as far as other reading goes....it's like picking up a book, then giving up on it because it's not as good as Moorcock!

In fact people who know me well, know not to bring up his name in conversation as it proves very hard to shut me up once I get started....i'm a bit of an evangelist for his work. The problem is it's very difficult to describe the Jerry Cornelius books to anyone who hasn't read them...there's no easy way to sum up what they're about....so you end up going on for ages....and boring people.

....which is possibly what i'm doing now...so i'll shut up.

As a reader, one must distinguish, as Graham Greene did as a writer, books written for entertainment, & those meant to be taken more seriously.

And there is Lewis' brilliant 'Silent Planet' trilogy, but the guy was a bleedin' genius, wasn't he?? Here one can see the merger of the two forms....
