Old Bernard was big mates with Phil the Greek as well, they were always swapping jokes.

I agree he's not a natural standup comedian, but his standup was great when I saw him on the recent tour.

I don't think he's got the gift of thinking things up on the spot, or 'spur of the moment' comedy.

podcasts are great, tv stuff great too. Turning up to a concert with 60K (or whatever) people and how ever many millions of people watching with no material prepared is shit.

'Fun for all and all for fun'!

I usually like it when Ricky Gervais makes me cringe but this was shocking. I thought Gervais would be too cynical and have a bit more integrity than to lick the Royals arses. Still, I am a fan, The Office is on of the greatest British sitcoms ever produced (also thanks to Stephen Merchant for that) and podcasts were great, also enjoyed Extras. Seems Gervais is doing a bit too much celeb back slapping for my liking these days, aslong as Extras Christmas Special is great all is forgiven. Oh and I saw someone slagging off Larry David on this thread too, blasphemy...shame on you. As you can tell from my screen name I'm a big Seinfeld fan and love Curb aswell. Tut tut.

It was me, I have no shame at all.
I can't stand Gervais/David/Seinfeld/et al. we've been through this before, no I don't think Seinfeld is a genius, his late night comedy was about nothing, and most importantly, it just wasn't funny.
Seinfeld will be one of those things that people in the future will say "Actually it was shit really, I only said I liked it because someone said"" they thought it was clever"
One final thing, if Seinfeld was so good how come nobody watched it, I can remember being around other peoples houses and they always used to switch over the channels when Seinfeld came on.
B.B.C.2 soon got rid of it.
By the way, how's ChrisD doing? has he figured out what a 69 is yet?

Who told this twat he was funny? He really is the most pompous self centred egotist in British showbiz. He really thinks he is a living legend.
Ruined the end of the show for a lot of people.

Now Tom Jones having Joe Perry on guitar that was class.

Gervais is probably the most unfunny individual who is in the public eye!!

All his "characters" are himself, the only difference being that they wear slightly different clothes!

Nice one, Trumpton, It's good to see that I'm not the only one that thinks that Brent/Gervais is crap.

Indeedy...Roger Hodgeson was a class one-man act, appeared to struggle with a few of the high notes on 'Goodbye Stranger', but overall he pulled that Supertramp medley off amazingly well.
