Jumping into this topic after only reading a few of the posts. I agree that the Smiths were a great British band, really summed up what it was like to be young and disillusioned in the eighties. Still, there not exactly a punk band are they. I love the Buzzcocks and the Ramones but I have to say my favourite band to emerge from punk are The Clash. Joe Strummer was an incredible lyricist and frontman and I feel priveliged to have seen him perform live twice in the year before he died.

Not yet........ saw The Fall live in February though. Raucous as ever, rowdy crowd antics too.
