Funniest scene in a movie

Post by Guilbert »

What is your favorite funny scene in a movie?.

I watched Dirty Rotten Scoundrels again on TV on Sunday. I found myself laughing out loud at the scene in the wheelchair.

Steve Martin goes around in wheelchair pretending he has lost the use of his legs so he can con a woman into paying for an operation.

Michael Caine is pretending to be a doctor who will cure Steve Martin if the same woman pays him a massive fee.

Michael Caine starts to check that Steve Martin has no feeling in his legs by first tickling his feet. He then gets a thin cane and begins to hit him round the legs, gently at first, but getting more and more agressive.

Eventually Steve Martin is in tears with pain, but he needs to pretend that he feels nothing. The less pain he shows the harder Michael Caine hits him.

It sound cruel but is in fact hilarious.

Any others ?

Leaving aside the Pythons (covered elsewhere)

At least four scenes in Young Frankenstein
A fair whack of Airplane
Huge swathes of Dr Strangelove
Springtime For Hitler and Zero Mostel's face while waiting for one of his "girls" to unlock the door in The Producers
The scheisse internet site in South Park: The Movie
Team America: World Police
Animal House (Belushi moving along on top of the ladder)
Kentucky Fried Movie (Appeal for the dead, A Fistful Of Yen)
Kingpin (the milking scene)

and many many more. Comedy is like air, food, water and music. We can't live without it.

For me, the 'hair gel' scene in 'There's something about Mary' was one of the funniest things I ever saw, the first time I viewed it.

Also 'Kingpin' has some great moments too.

Think this was probably Steve Martin's last funny film in my opinion
I love the jerk, man with 2 brains, dead men etc

Also Mel Brooks is brilliantwith so many funny bits in his films

But of course none of them can compete with that genius Mr Bean

Mentioning above film just reminds me what a sad loss to
comedy John Candy was - cool runnings was a real funny film
Also a few years back I just turned tv over and started watching a
film by chance that I knew nothing about - first national lampoon
vacation movie and that made me laugh out loud a lot

Just remembered what a funny scene there is with the speedboat
and the dead body in Weekend at Bernies.

Not a film but maybe one of the funniest scenes every put onto film ....

Del boy in the wine bar and falling over when he goes to lean on it .... it's a real classic and makes me laugh every time i see it.

Trains, Planes and Automobiles was the funniest film I have ever seen, I still howl laughing even now, especially where Steve Martin dries his face with John Candys underwear.
I liked it as it reminds me when me and a good mate lived together in the mid-80's, it was JUST like that in parts.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd
