Was originally going to be called Mr Solo, until Ian Fleming's legal people got involved. Coincidentally, there had been a Mr Solo in the Bond film out that year, one Goldfinger.

It was okay for its time----but everywhere looked like the sun-kissed back lots in Hollywood.

Still, it did feature the actor who appeared in most Hitchcock films, and had a line dedicated to him in Rocky Horror: Leo G. Carroll.

A spin off starring Stephanie Powers if my memories right and the bloke who sang "Windmills of my Mind".

They used to join two episodes together and pretend they were real films I saw "The Helicopter Spies" at my local ABC

Unless of course you mean the actor used by Hitch in more of his movies than any other actor. I'll have to get back to you on that one. Well its a crap night on the telly.

Cant fault you then. Of course on strict appearance criteria, though non speaking and occasionally non moving, Hitch himself was in more Hitchcock films. And in terms of leading man rather than supporting roles, it's James Stewart and Cary Grant with 4 starring roles each. Blondes in distress, it's Grace Kelly with 3 and Tippi Hedren with 2.

One of Grant's best roles was the least showy one in Notorious (partly ripped off by Mission: Impossible II), and Stewart was brilliant in Vertigo. A lot of Hitch's films were about the darker parts of the psyche, and you don't get much darker than those films.
