Police and CPS made the decision. It surprised me, because it smelt worse than a crate of three-week-old haddock, and I was certain the Teflon one would finally have to admit some guilt.

The law is an ass

take the cases of several high profile QCs in Sydney
None of them have paid tax for years by simply exploiting the loopholes in the bankruptcy laws

Those that know how the system works invariably can get away with anything

You only need enough Dosh to make things disappear

The recent stories about that judge in the US that was suing a dry cleaner for millions over a lost pair of trousers highlights what those at the top can TRY and get away with

bullshit walks and money talks, about sums it up

cheers

The CPS statement said " That there was insufficient evidence to bring the likelihood of a succesful prosecution".
NB, it did not say that there was NO evidence.
Did anyone seriously think that the establishment would allow charges to be brought against the highest echelons of government?

Guido's blog is always worth a look and he is trying to get support for a private prosecution. it would seem that evidence already gathered, which has cost the taxpayer over a million pounds, may possibly be used.

I think this was a stitch up by the CPS. The police had the evidence, but it wasn't "sufficient" apparently. What did these cunts expect? This was a conspiracy, you don't get anything in writing, and no-one was talking, so you have to infer things from their actions. Thus, certain rich businessmen offer to give money to Labour. Lord Levy asks them to loan the money instead, as this does not have to be declared. Since it's not declared, it won't look bad when a few months later they get peerages. Now, to any normal person, it makes no sense at all to ask for a loan when money has been offered as a gift, it only makes sense if you have to disclose a gift, but not a loan. Conclusion, Labour wanted to keep the loans secret.

This country is corrupt, and there is no point denying it. If Richard Nixon had been the British Prime Minister instead of the US President there would have been no inquiry into Watergate, and he'd never have had to resign. In this country, people like David Kelly, who tell the truth, end up ruined or dead, and vicous lying slags like Alastair Campbell make millions. It's a fucking sick state of affairs.
