This has been forever delayed just like the Special Edition of Blade Runner which was supposed to be out May this year but of course it wasn't but now they have finally got the information, release dates and artwork of the 2 Disc collections of Stanley Kubrick's most popular films.
There's a number of classic Kubrick films which haven't been added to this beast like Paths Of Glory and Lolita but i'm glad of what we are being given and I just hope to Zeus they include the extended American version of The Shining as it makes the movie much more enjoyable.

Sorry I don't know how to make the link clickable.
And for anyone interested they have also announced a Special Edition of Roman Polanski's Chinatown

Anyway wht the hell is all this with directors cuts, final cuts etc? Why dont they just damn well release one version on dvd? We all know they cut the movies down on releases to get their 4 showings in a day on its cinematic release.

They call it double dipping which sounds like a porn phrase but its where they make you pay for the same movie more than once for just a few extras which really won't make much of a difference but of course the companies know the fanboys will buy them because they are devoted fans to the films they love.

Re: Kubrick DVD's get the 2 Disc Treatment
Because there are folk that obsess over every aspect of some works.
During the 1980s/early 1990s, the Tolkien estate released a whack of books related to virtually ever beer mat with a bit of Elvish writing that the old Prof had doodled on.
The so-called Blade Runner director's cut released some years ago was excellent---but some people will have missed the one decent bit of voiceover recorded, the aftermath of Roy's death.
One of the things they've fixed in the new release is the chase involving Zora (Joanne Cassidy). In spite of a quarter of a century having passed, they got her to film part of it again so that you can see it's her face (and not a stuntwoman).
Being as old as I am, I can recall seeing the film in the cinema (not to Ace, a big building with a big screen where you can see films as they were intended). It was oppressive and horrible, and glorious, and it didn't matter that the end made no sense----the tagged on outcuts from The Shining were welcome, because it was daylight at long last. The images and the music were fantastic. The small screen can never do justice to such a film, in my humble opinion.
