Apart from the recent stuff, he was also one of the writers of the Muppet Show. In one of the episodes he is the guest star (because the real star dropped out at short notice), and Kermit is desperately trying to build him up as somebody.

So, yes, he is funny - but also a bit fucked up.

It could well be that this affair finishes his career, but I would find it sad.
