You hit the nail on the head Zevon. Celebrated for achievements from whence his 'fame' derives. Not merely 'famous for being famous' but celebrated for his significant contribution to film and theatre arts.

Most famous in this country for Blow-Up, which provides a main character that is a template for Austin Powers and is a rather intriguing murder story featuring David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave, Pissdrinker Miles and various naked ladies.

I heard 'Blow Up' was the first feature film released in Britain to show female pubic hair, in the 'fight' Hemmings has with the two girls in his studio involving the big roll of cyc paper getting torn up.
