Then punish Bates, not the club unfortunate enough to have him at the
helm.
By not cutting out such clearly unsuitable persons ab initio [see also
Shinawatra, and probably half the other board-members of the League]
the administration is in danger of making a fool of itself. Again...

Absolutely brilliant justice for last season has been done.

I don't give a rats arse to the 'real' fans who shouldn't be blamed because it's directors simply because the majority I know laughed and thought it very clever when they pulled the plug on last season to finish bottom to try and not get 15 points deducted this season.

Added amusement for me comes from being a Preston fan and knowing that all the dirty Leeds 'stars' that jumped our ship for nothing more than bigger pay packets have been given another kick in the nuts.

I am probably being bitter by YES THIS IS A RESULT! All I need now is for the b/pool donkey lashers to fold and Christmas will have come early.

!laugh!

Leeds 'stars' aren't the only ones who were happy to underperform for
mega-money, and then sell themselves to the highest bidder. If you allow
people to be greedy, selfish and stupid, don't be surprised if they're
greedy, selfish and stupid.
Any fool could have seen what would happen without wage-caps, and
permitting agents [for which read amoral pimps] to operate has been a
disaster. The FA/FL have always been too slow to react to changes in the
market, and way too timid in applying robust legislation- they could have
struck a much fairer division of the spoils for the lower leagues but did
almost nothing. Let the money-men run the sport, and it dies or becomes
a laughing-stock: witness motor-racing and boxing.

With the chaos surrounding that club I'd be surprised if they can attract any good players to get them promoted again. They could be down there for a number of years. But like JJ says its the supporters who have really been shafted. I follow City so can sympathise to a certain extent with their fans as its certainly no fun getting relegated especially down to the 3rd division!

Genuinely interested in this, (generally, not just Leeds) what penalty do you thing could imposed that would properly punish the board/club, without affecting the fans? I can't think of anything that wouldn't follow through to the fans in some way.
We have need of you again, great king.

Set up properly [as it wasn't], one answer might be for prospective board-
members to deposit a substantial bond, forfeitable in the event of maladministration and returnable [with interest] at the end of their
association with said club.
Would also obviate the need for FA/FL to rely on club finances for running
expenses and so make them more independent of the bigger clubs.

What narks me is how Leeds have been run so badly and yet still exist. If Leeds Utd was a factory, shop or pub the Revenue and Trading Standards would have shut them down. How do football clubs get preferential treatment when other businesses get short shrift?
