technical question
I recently purchased a new laptop with Vista installed. However now I find that it is incompatible with my Wind ISP which I connect to the Internet with my Motorola mobile phone. It will not accept the Motorola USB modem. Also other programmes that I regularly use for editing and burning are incompatible.
I tried to install Windows XP but Vista will not let me! Does anyone know how to delete Windows Vista from my computer?

Re: technical question
You would need to format the machine and start from scratch, which means you need a boot disk.
You may also have problems getting everything to work with driver issues.
I tried to put Win2k on a vista laptop and couldnt get the inbuilt wi-fi to work, and couldnt get the drivers for it
So i ended up going back to vista.
You maybe better contacting motorola and seeing bout getting the Vista drivers, and mostr editting and burning software works on vista or has new versions, the only one i found problematic was Nero but I just applied a hotfix for that off nero's website.
I have to say, I don't much like Vista

Did I read somewhere that Vista is undeletable? - but don't quote me on that.

Re: technical question
Cenobitez,
I have the Windows XP software. What other boot discs are there?
I could not install Nero either. Forgive my computer illiteracy but what is a "hotfix?"
I cannot get online to download from Motorola but have the Motorola Phone Tools software which contains the drivers USB modem etc but Vista says that the modem is unsigned and refuses it.
I just want to delete Vista and install XP!
Thanks for the information.

Re: technical question
I took vista out of my laptop and desktop.
Reletively easy process (for a nerd), but lots of drivers are Vista Only so you end up screwed.
A Windows XP FULL OEM cd will recommend reformatting the drive prior to installing.
Personally I used a bootdisk off , then fdisk'd the drive, formatted it, and installed a clean Win2k.
Not a task i'd personally recommend people do as the driver issues suck ass.

Re: technical question
Theres also this page (currently down)but well worth using as the info is from past/present microsoft employees. The warnings about patches are invaluable
Then theres also the site to resort to
Basically microsoft in legible language
