Hi photo-taker, i cannot offer you any techcie advice but i run xp and last thursday my comp crashed, so i went to see this bloke i know who is shit hot on comps to get it sorted and i asked him about vista in case i needed to buy another comp, he said if you use scanners, printers or digi cameras leave vista well alone as there are just to many problems with it, maybe you should take your new laptop back and exchange it for one running xp as you know where you are with that.

Re: Vista NewLaptop. acer 160gig
I havent had any 'major' driver problems on my vista laptop, doesnt like some 'older' programs, anything older than a year or 2 at a push vista doesnt like.
IE albeit a little more secure but alot more flakey, flash.ocx dies repeatedly in vista, also if you download a file over about 2gb thru explorer IE hogs insane amounts of resources.
Also the way Vista handles memory sucks ass.
From a cold boot its using 600mb of memory, as other versions of windows take memory when they need it, vista takes a huge chunk and keeps it, weather ti needs it or not. Its supposed to move faster but I don't know.
Click for Click my 2k Server and 2k Pro machines are ALOT faster to boot, and open apps.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?
