When I was watching this film the other night I wondered just how many of the people appearing in it are still alive? Only Macca, Ringo and Victor Spenetti (spelling) are still with us, the rest are R.I.P.

For it's day 'Yellow Submarine' was seen as an unique and brilliant form of animation. I saw it when it was shown on the BBC a couple of years ago and I thought it looked tacky and awful.

The Beatles never claimed to be actors, and for its time A Hard Days Night was revolutionary compared to music films that had gone before.

Mac has said since that they can barely remember making Help as they were so stoned at the time.

I saw Hard Days Night years ago as a nipper and remember enjoying it thoroughly. I can remember those cartoons they made too. Seen it since a few years back and I couldn't help thinking how bad most of it was. Clearly it was aimed at young kids, a very long time ago.
Must admit though Ive always thought Help was a good film, generally because the Beatles aren't really made to act in it, its left to the proper actors to push the story along. The Beatles just link the scenes with a song. I can say the same about Yellow Submarine, it had a real charm to it for a kid but its somewhat dated now. I saw Let It Be one saturday afternoon in the early 80s on tv and found it the most tedious film ever as I recall. Just a bunch of scruffy bored hippies sat around. The album was shit too.

The interesting thing about the film Let It be is that it shows how relationships had disintergrated within the Beatles. They should have really called it a day before this.

I read in Q mag that it is now free to download the film Let it Be.
