This was on ITV yesterday at 3 in the afternoon! I physically did a double-take when I saw it in the radio times. Still a terrific film but I seem to recall the large amount of swearing, the strip club scene and a pretty violent Stephen Berkoff death.
As expected, this was the family-friendly version with all of the above cut or altered. But I found myself getting all nostalgic for a time when all movies on TV were treated the same, ah those were the days!
How much longer before porn slips onto prime time?

Porn in prime time, dont make me laugh
Softcore simulated hollywood yes, full on hardcore NEVER
Eddie Murphy love him or hate him was OK
Compared to the films he did after it,it was unbelievably excellent
Personally I thought Trading places & 48 hours were far better BHC

and coming to america was his best effort at playing several parts in
the one film. Again his later attempts at this were pretty poor

Yes, Trading Places was on last week as well. Made me look up the explanation of the ending on the internet because I never understood what was going on.
And although it isn't possible to make or lose so much money so quickly, it does show what a bunch of chancers those who work in the city are. It came to mind with all the Northern Rock business - the ordinary punter told not to panic while the city brokers sell like mad.
I'm not really a socialist, just an advocate of fair play.

Re: Beverly Hills Cop
At the time, I thought this film was EXCELLENT............but while it has dated well, apart from some of Faltermayer's dodgy synths, it looks no better than an average film these days.
BHC2 was piss poor and while BHC3 was better, people had 'forgotten' Murphy.
