Robert Jordan RIP

Post by Pervert »

Sorry to bear bad tidings, Buttsie:

Really bad news for fantasy fans. The Wheel Of Time is what the word epic was created for.

Very sad but not unexpected
I read on his site last september that he'd been gravely ill since february 2006.Had the forethought to warn the fanbase in May 2006 just in case
Speaks volumes

Even worked on the last volume in between treatments

I'll be interested to see if he ever receives any critical acclaim for his efforts

That's really sad news and a big loss to the fantasy book world.

I wonder if someone will finish the 12th wheel of time book (like Stella Gemmell did) or if it will remain a lost book.

RIP xx

I can't imagine he wouldn't have left copious notes of plot lines, if nothing else, so someone should be able to finish the story... if not as well as RJ.

what a nightmare, no wonder i couldn't get into the Dragonmount website yesterday.

Oddly though his cousin had posted on the message bought last week that news of his impending demise was nonsense (including being given the last rites)

He certainly didn't think he was going soon and had talked about four spin off books once he'd finished 'A Memory of Light'

I wonder if we'll ever find the true ending he wanted to that series

rest well big man

From what I've read the ending has always been known to him

Given that he's been working on the last chapter for well over a year its safe to assume something will be published even if it takes the same route as Tolkiens Children of Hurin(2007)

might take you a while before you get through to the server but is said to contain the answers

yeah, reading some of the recent things his cousin said on his blog it sounds like he had dictated most of the the plot lines and the ending to him and his wife. And considering Harriet was his editor too for many years I don't doubt that we will see 'memory of light' finished.

Mind you I wouldn't expect to see anything until 2009 at least, Jordan did say that he was sleeping 18 hours a day, so how much actual writing was done, I dunno
