Gutted! Fucking gutted..........best manager in the world as far as I'm concerned........the Premiership will miss him.
Depending on his severence package, I expect him to give the details on why he didn't want Ballack/Shevchencko etc

Good luck Jose, and thanks for the memories

Hodgson was on the C5 Italian football programme last Sunday. He's managing a national team somewhere .. didn't say which. He was looking well though.

Capello, Lippi ... both not working at the moment.

Radio 5 live announced earlier this morning that the Israeli
Avram Grant will be in charge - not as a caretaker but full time -
with Steve Clarke still as his assistant

Avram Grant... what a cunt! RA... what an even bigger cunt!

RA was unhappy that Chelsea weren't playing attractive football... so he puts in charge a man who, when managing Israel, almost bored his way to the world cup finals by playing "everyone behind the ball" football.

I can't see it as a long-term appointment. More likely, he's manager until such time as Russia are out of Euro 2008 (be it by not qualifying, or getting knocked out at the Finals) and Gus Hiddink becomes available.

Having Grant as the manager won't make Schevchenko play any better... he should have stayed at Milan where the pace of the Italian game would have allowed him a couple of extra years of glory. Instead, this great player will probably be remembered for being an abject failure in the EPL.

It depends what you call "sharp". Personally I wouldn't call "sharp" any player who misses the gilt-edged chances he had against Blackburn and Rosenborg (he scored once out of about 6 good chances) and is out-paced by Stephen Warnock.

As for Zola, Bergkamp and Cantona... they hardly came to the Premiership in their twilight years, whilst Scheva has come at the end of an illustrious career. The pace is too big a hurdle at this stage of his career. I hope I'm wrong, as a Chelsea supporter, but personally I'd rather have seen that ?31m spent on one or two younger strikers.
