Sadly, no American politician regards opposition to federally funded health care as a threat to their re-election. It is the great sadness of US politics that the majority of those who vote continue to vote for politicians who are not going to protect those voters' basic interests and welfare. It is the triumph of the generally religious right to have hijacked the political system to such an extent that the agenda for most people is not health, welfare, employment and betterment for all, but rather creationism, anti-abortion, tax-cuts for the rich, prayers in school, and other less than earth shatteringly important issues.
