Christ, I'd forgotten that one! But yeh, now you come to mention it .....
But for REAL edge-of-your-seat stuff, look no further than ***THE FLASHING BLADE*** ("da-dang, da-dang-dang: You've got to fight for what you want ...").
Stirring stuff indeed.

ITV used to do some pretty good kids shows. Now, of course, it prefers to repeat Morse and Midsomer Murders.
Children Of The Stones (set in Avebury), with Gareth Thomas and Iain Cuthbertson was quite scary, and there was a show called Raven in the mid to late 70s, with Phil Daniels and beautiful, doll-faced Shirley Cheriton, that had an Arthurian theme.

Remembered one more, Ta da... The Banana Splits, everybody go, La la la, la la la la, fanf*****gtastic. With the mini series in it called "Danger Island", which was basically a slasher flick for kids! wouldn't get away with that sort of stuff nowadays.

Indeed it was. Aside from the smutty playground variants we all sang, the actual song went:
"One banana, two banana, three banana, four,
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more,
Flippin' like a pancake, poppin' like a cork,
Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork,
Tra-La-La.....etc"
trivia: many think Bob Marley's "Buffalo Soldier" plagiarized the Tra-La-La bit. They have a point.

Oh yeah! The memories come flooding back now!!!
Another fave of mine from that early '70s era was a sort of spy / adventure show called "Freewheelers", which had Wendy Padbury from 'Doctor Who' in it. Also (AFAIK) never been repeated since. It was on kids' ITV, although the heroes were all older (late teens / early 20s).
Then there was "Hope & Keen's Crazy Bus", "The Double Deckers" and the much more 'cerebral' sci-fi show "Timeslip".
And talking of "The Banana Splits", anyone else recall another Saturday morning show (must have been 1969 / 1970 because I recall watching it before we moved to Sheffield in late '70) called "Zokko"?
It was 'compared' by a sort of pinball machine with a robotic voice which introduced the various segments.
