Climate change doco.

Post by mart »

Not much mystery about the motivation behind the High Court action.

The New Party seem to be in favour of unfettered growth, big Thatcherism.

But isn't this starting a precedent for challenges to other debatable topics in the school syllabus?
On the one hand Evolution and on the other hand religion.

The court has rightly rule that "Theory Presented as Fact" has no place in the classroom without proper guidance and counter argument. This piece of political propaganda misleads from the title "An Inconvienient TRUTH", through its selective use of evidence (ie use the bits that fit our arguement, leave out the ones that don't)

The government just want this powerful piece of political spin indoctrinated into school kids at an early age in order to make it easier to tax them later in life.

If this fantasy must be show in schools, it should be mandatory to follow it up with Channel 4's "Great Global Warming Swindle" to offer some balance.

(For what its worth, i'm willing to be convinced either way about man made global warming. Right now, not enough evidence to convince me)
We have need of you again, great king.

"A recent poll by Ipsos Mori showed that 82% of people were personally concerned about climate change,"

But although these people were concerned, I wonder if they know what there concerned about, were hard hitting facts put to them? or where they just asked by some mori pollster " are you concerned about global warming" to which 82% just said er, yes!

A convenient tactic to collect more tax and control people along with WMD is Global warming, I wonder how global warming has affecting the Sahara.

I'm sure there is some global warming going on (global climate changes naturally anyway).

It's the "man-made" bit that I don't fully buy.

In fact I think that it's all (largely) bollocks and a huge revenue-raising ploy.

Think about it:

We get a mild winter - and everybody screams **"global warming"**.

We get a freeze-your-bollocks-off winter - and everybody screams **"global warming"**.

We get a dry summer - and everybody screams **"global warming"**.

We get a summer of floods - and everybody screams **"global warming"**.

Sound like the global warming lobby are trying to have it all ways?!

The phrases "mass hysteria" and "bandwagon-jumping" spring to mind whenever I hear the words "global warming".

Is that when idiots like Gore use the worst case scenario the idea of a sensible debate is lost.No on can be a hundred percent right as its all based on modelling with hundreds of variables

Same with all this baloney that time is up and therefore the only answer is clean green nuclear power (the ultimate irony)for all our future power needs

Personally i think its too late to change whats already happening
The last 13 years have been the hottest on record and nothing we do IMHO will change the next 13 from being the same or worse

Dangerously flawed political & economic agendas are at play and none of them have the planets best interests at heart IMHO

The one route that no one seems to mention is reducing the amount of consumption except that would go against everything we stand for in the west which is to OVER CONSUME to keep the economies chugging along
so the rich can get richer

That is the route being suggested by George Monbiot and others.
And its the very reason why the deniers, fueled by greed, have got their heads in the sand
(unlike ostriches) and are talking out of their arseholes.

Well you can stick that sort of talk up your arsehole friend.

A person who "denies" the Holocaust is trying to argue that a thoroughly documented and witnessed fact of history did not happen.

Man made global warming is a theory, nothing more. It may or may not be true. Anyone who has not been convinced by the theory is not a denier of a fact, they are merely unpersuaded by the evidence put forward in support of a theory.

The fact that Al Gore has won the Nobel Prize just one day after a court of law found that his "Inconvenient Truth" contains distortions and misleading statements presented as facts is just one of life's little ironies.

Check these out for some interesting - and telling - stats about Al Gore's very own "carbon footprint":

And as for the Nobel Peace Prize, it's rarely been anything but a politically-motivated award / statement.

Exactly. Like I said - a very convenient thesis to cover all the angles.

... At which point it would become "too successful", and so new and / or higher taxes would have to be introduced to make up the difference. Nah - I just don't buy it.

Just wait until "road pricing" comes (and come it surely will). That's when we'll all end up well & truly shafted.
