Did you see that appalling report on the news yesterday about the third world conditions in the hospitals of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust? 90 people dead as a result of filthy wards, bodily fluids left in corridors, and patients who asked to go to the toilet being told to go in their beds! This is the kind of third world crap you might expect in Zimbabwe, not leafy prosperous Kent!
Why is this happening? Where?s all the fucking dough gone? The umpteen billions that ?Bottler? Gordon has craftily skimmed off us and swears he put into the heath service? In some respects it seems worse now than it?s ever been. Can you image the archetypal 50?s or 60?s matron allowing a state of affairs like the ones in the Kent hospitals on her ward?
What?s going wrong here? Are the people they hire nowadays incompetent? Don?t they care? Has all those billions gone on large pay rises and extra make-work jobs for small time bureaucrats and those who might have difficulty finding other employment (?cause they?re crap).
But all this is not just annoying; it?s very worrying as well. With an aging population and young people being inculcated with the vacuous non-values of Big Brother and Heat, are they going to want to look after the elderly or pay for them in future? I think not. I feel there are unpleasant times ahead for the elderly and people in middle age that do not have the huge financial resources necessary to insulate themselves from any impending social problems.

Re: Hospitals - Where's The Dough Gone?
Hospitals in the 50's and 60's had more time for 'care' because there wasn't as much 'curing' going on compared to today. The population was a lot lower, as well as what people can go to hospital for these days, most either wouldn't have been diagnosed, would have took the pain until it got better by itself, or told there was nothing that could be done, and been sent home.
The more a health service can provide, the more patients you will get, and with that, spiralling costs, and less time per patient.

There's the billions which are being wasted on an illegal and unwinable war!
Re: Hospitals - Where's The Dough Gone?
Sadly, the Bottler's only solution to any problem seems to be to simply throw money at it.
And if that doesn't work - throw some more money at it.
Never mind efficiency. It's all about "meeting targets" and creating new tiers of bureaucracy, while at the same time farming out essential services like cleaning to profit-orientated contractor companies employing a large proportion of low-wage Third World staff (with their Third World hygiene standards). Fucking scandalous.

PS: I'm sure Wazza'll be along in a minute to explain to us why the NHS is the "envy of Europe" !rant!

You've also mentioned 'the ageing population'. Obviously this due to better medical competence, and knowledge. Medical curing and prevention is at it's all time peak, and because of this, the average age one is expected to live is also at an all time peak.

Then there's the billions which are given as "aid" to prop up some tin-pot, corrupt, HIV/Aids denying regime.

The women who was the chief administrator responcible for the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust resigned on agreement that she recieved a pay off in excess of ?400,000 this has now been put on hold by the Minister for Health but i expect once this has blown over that she will still recieve it, this same Hospital Trust has also been relying on the League of Friends to raise money to purchase vital equipment, so where has the money gone, well i can tell you it has been creamed of by the people who run these trust by awarding contracts to their cronies who never fullfill those contracts, its criminal and on that point the Police are investigating this trust after the 90+ deaths due to this scandal with a view of bringing Manslaughter charges, No Balls Brown keeps throwing our money at the NHS but he hasnt got a clue how it is spent just as long as the Goverment targets are being met !sad!
